"Art is not what you see, but what you make others see."

As a part of the Golden Jubilee Celebration of Don Bosco, Yerwada, a vibrant Rangoli Competition was organized on September 9, 2024, inviting students from Standard 5th to 12th to participate. The event was designed to highlight the artistic talents of the students while honoring cultural traditions.

This year's theme, "Don Bosco Golden Jubilee," provided participants with the opportunity to express their creativity within a culturally significant context. The competition took place in the school hall, which transformed into colorful Rangoli designs. Students worked in teams and utilized various materials, including colored powders, flowers, and grains, to craft their masterpieces.

Students were informed much in advance about the competition. The time allotted for the Rangoli creation was 2 hours. Guidelines regarding the size of the Rangoli (3x3 feet) and the use of eco-friendly materials were strictly followed to promote environmental consciousness.

A total of 196 students participated in the competition, with 32 students representing each category. The students worked in groups of four, displaying immense creativity and artistic skills.

Throughout the event, students shared their excitement and joy at being part of such a grand celebration. Many expressed how the competition allowed them to explore their artistic sides while connecting with their peers in a fun and collaborative manner. “It was an amazing experience to create something so beautiful with my friends,” said one participant from Std 8th. Another student added, “I never thought I could make such a detailed Rangoli. Working as a team helped us share ideas and bring them to life.”

Judges for the day were Mr Joseph Sakhare an artist and parishioner of Sacred Heart Parish, Yerwada and Ms. Urvi Sheth, an Art teacher from Pune International School. They evaluated the Rangoli designs based on creativity, adherence to the theme, color coordination, and overall presentation. The competition was marked by intense participation, with students from all grades showcasing remarkable creativity and skill.

The judges were impressed by the creativity, vibrant colors, and unique designs. They appreciated the hard work and teamwork of the participants, noting that it was difficult to choose the winners as all the rangolis were excellent.

Principal Fr Crispino commended the participants for their dedication and hard work. The Rangoli competition not only promoted teamwork and artistic expression but also brought a deeper connection with traditional art forms.
