BIS #7480 Oratory Day at Divyadaan
by Cl Jashbir Sanga
The Salesians of Divyadaan, Nashik conducted the Oratory Day on February 2, 2025 at Divyadaan. Conducting Oratory for the poor and abandoned children is the traditional practice of the Salesians started by Don Bosco himself. This is one of the significant ways that the Salesians reach out to the children who need care, help and guidance. There are various places in Nashik city, where the Divyadaan brothers conduct oratories every Sunday. This prepares them for their future ministry and allows them to cater to poor children in various ways.
Oratory Day is an occasion when the brothers of Divyadaan bring together the children of their respective oratories, where they do their Sunday ministry. The occasion is filled with various types of games and exciting prizes. It gives the children of different oratories an opportunity to enjoy themselves and meet the children from other oratories.
The event started with a prayer service at 2 in the afternoon. Fr Robert Pen, the Rector of Divyadaan, addressed the children and motivated them to become good citizens. He told them about the work that Don Bosco had started which the Salesians are now carrying forward. Thereafter there was a short cultural programme that contained a prayer dance and a dance that portrayed the greatness of the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, both staged up by the oratory children. There were about a hundred and twenty children from seven oratories. The children were engaged in various types of games and the winners were given exciting prizes which would be helpful in their studies.
The Oratory Day concluded with a thanksgiving ceremony. Before departing, the children were given tea and snacks. The children enjoyed the day a lot. The children were very grateful to the brothers and fathers of Divyadaan for conducting the Oratory Day. The community was also happy with the way the Oratory Day was conducted.
