As part of the annual planning for the Salesian Co-operators of ChhotaUdepur, a spiritually enriching one-day retreat was organized on July 27, 2025. This special gathering marked a significant milestone as it brought together co-operators from both ChhotaUdepur and Dakor units for the first time, fostering unity, spiritual growth, and a renewed sense of mission.
The retreat was preached by Fr Anthony Goyal SDB, the Parish Priest and Administrator of Don Bosco Dakor. The event commenced with an inspiring talk by Fr Goyal, where he emphasized the central role of prayer in a co-operator’s life. He spoke eloquently about the virtues of humility and repentance, underlining how they serve as essential paths to experiencing God and cultivating a Christ-like attitude. He reminded the participants that Salesian Co-operators are integral members of the larger Salesian mission, contributing in meaningful ways to the legacy of Don Bosco. In a touching reflection, he highlighted Mamma Margaret, the mother of Don Bosco, as the first Salesian Co-operator, a model of faith, sacrifice, and commitment.
Following the session, participants were invited to spend time in personal prayer and reflection, allowing them to internalize the spiritual insights shared. At 11:30 a.m., the community gathered for the Eucharistic Celebration, offered especially for the intentions of the co-operators. The Holy Mass was a moment of profound grace and unity, followed by a fellowship lunch generously sponsored by two co-operators from ChhotaUdepur.
In the afternoon, priests made themselves available for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, offering participants the opportunity to experience God’s mercy and healing. This was followed by a serene time of Eucharistic Adoration and Thanksgiving prayers, deepening the sense of spiritual renewal among the attendees.
The retreat proved to be a soul-nourishing experience, fulfilling the spiritual dimension of the co-operators' vocation. The historic coming together of the two units sparked a meaningful suggestion: to consider future collaborations among co-operators across the Gujarat region, allowing for joint formation, animation, and apostolic initiatives. Such events would not only strengthen bonds but also enhance the collective witness of Salesian spirituality in the region. A vote of thanks was proposed by Fr Cedrick Sankul local delegate of the co-operators of ChhotaUdepur. The one day retreat concluded at 2:45 p.m.
This retreat was a remarkable beginning, laying the foundation for greater unity, deeper faith, and shared mission among the Salesian Co-operators of ChhotaUdepur and Dakor.
