A Lenten Recollection for Salesian Cooperators took place on March 15, 2025 at St. John Bosco Church in Borivali. Around 60 Cooperators from diverse units in Mumbai partook in this meaningful event. The day commenced with a gracious reception and the introduction of the preacher, Father Nicholas Arul. Fr Manuel Murzello, the Rector of St. John Bosco Borivali, cordially welcomed and briefed the Cooperators about the Don Bosco Institution. Subsequently, Fr Diego Nunes extended a heartfelt greeting to the Cooperators, underscoring that the Reflection was crafted to nurture our spiritual growth, a foundational aspect of our role as Salesian Cooperators, underscoring the significance of embracing our vocation.
The initial session commenced with a hymn dedicated to the Holy Spirit. Fr Nicholas guided the Cooperators to close their eyes, unwind, and immerse themselves in the presence of the Lord, encouraging them to reflect on their strengths and their connection with God and prompting them to contemplate what actions they can take to draw nearer to Jesus and what they truly seek from Him.
The viewing of a video depicting Jesus raising Lazarus prompted contemplation on the need to free ourselves from constraints through forgiveness and prayer, facilitating a closer communion with God. Daphne from the Bandra unit expressed, "The video portraying the Good Shepherd was deeply moving, urging me to be attentive in recognizing the voice of God."
Following a profoundly uplifting spiritual experience, the Cooperators proceeded to the Church for Adoration, the Sacrament of Confession, and Praise and Worship. During the Holy Eucharist celebration, Fr Nicholas shared his personal journey of overcoming challenges faced in the Andaman Islands and Chennai with the unwavering support of his family's prayers.
Sudha Pillai, the Salesian Cooperator's provincial coordinator, conveyed her gratitude in a brief address, acknowledging the cooperation and support of Fr Manuel Murzello, Rector and Parish Priest of St. John Bosco Church, in providing the venue. She also recognized Fr Diego, the Provincial Delegate, for his diligent efforts in organizing programs for the spiritual advancement of the Cooperators, as well as Fr Mario, the delegate of the Borivali unit, for his meticulous guidance ensuring the participants' comfort. Appreciation was extended to Fr Nicholas for his engaging Lenten Recollection experience and to all the Cooperators for their active participation and support.
The theme of this Lenten Recollection, 'To Find You,' truly encapsulated the journey of self-discovery through listening to God's voice and discerning it from distractions that lead us astray.
