BIS #7378 Diwali Dhamaka Lights Up Stellar Don Bosco Academy
by Natasha Nair for BIS Mumbai
On October 25, Stellar Don Bosco Academy sparkled with excitement as we joined in together for the much-anticipated “Diwali Dhamaka” event. The atmosphere was electric as around 150 women from the community, 150 children from the oratory, and about 70 more people and esteemed guests came together to celebrate this vibrant festival of lights.
The program kicked off with a warm and engaging session led by the host Trisha Sawant an ex-student of Don Bosco School, who encouraged everyone to share their personal reflections on what Diwali meant to them. She also posed a creative question about how they would use superpowers if they had any, sparking laughter and imaginative responses. This delightful icebreaker set a lively tone for the evening and created an interest among attendees.
The official proceedings began with the traditional lighting of diyas by Fr Barnabe D’souza along with representatives from the Nexus Seawoods Mall. This ritual symbolized the festival's essence of spreading light and hope, a powerful reminder of the positivity Diwali brings into our lives. In his address, Fr D’souza emphasized that Diwali is a celebration for all, representing the light that guides us in our endeavors and personal journeys. His words resonated deeply with the audience, reinforcing the universal spirit of the festival and inspiring a sense of unity.
Some Nexus representatives were felicitated by the talented oratory students of the academy. They presented thoughtful mementos to Mr Wasim- AGM Operations, who expressed his gratitude to Fr D’souza and pledged his ongoing support for the academy's initiatives. Other Nexus representatives, including Ms Lakshmi - HR Manager, Ms Nisha-DGM Marketing, Mr Prasad- Senior Manager, and Mr Terence Pascal-Assistant Manager Marketing, were also recognized for their invaluable contributions to the community. In a generous gesture, the Nexus team donated boxes of essentials to the academy’s community fridge, extending the Diwali spirit of giving to those in need.
Attendees were then treated to an array of refreshments and activities. The Social Development team, NIOS team, and Oratory students each brought their own unique flair to the celebration, offering a delightful mix of interactive games and engaging activities that captivated everyone present. Adding to the festivities, everyone united to celebrate Brother Alan’s birthday with cake and heartfelt wishes, creating a warm atmosphere of togetherness and celebration. As the evening drew to a close, everyone took to the dance floor, filling the space with laughter and movement.
The ‘Diwali Dhamaka’ at Stellar Don Bosco Academy truly encapsulated the spirit of the festival, a harmonious blend of tradition, gratitude, giving and togetherness. As the lights dimmed and the final notes of music faded, everyone left with hearts full of hope and a renewed commitment to the values of kindness and generosity that Diwali embodies.
