St. Joseph's High School in Wadala conducted a guidance seminar for students on August 22, 2024. The event, organized under the guidance of Principal Father Solomon Rapol, focused on cyber-crime awareness and career choices.

Mr Mehul Gandhi, an alumnus from the 1990 batch with 28 years of experience in the IT sector, led the seminar. He is currently pursuing his B.B.A course and wishes to ignite young minds. Students from grades IX and X attended the session held in the school auditorium.

Mr Mehul spoke about maintaining certain rules and regulations while using social media, like not disclosing financial and social status while making friends with anyone on social media. He also specified that morphing others' photographs, sending malicious emails, or mocking someone on social media are punishable crimes. The police can trace the people who create fake IDs and indulge in such crimes. He showed live maps indicating cyber crimes taking place all over the world which left the students in awe.

In the later part of the session, the speaker enlightened the students about the methods and phases of making a career choice. He discussed all the career options available under different streams. The varied career options based on the interests and skills of students, the importance of career guidance in school and the customized career plans in career counselling were all explained in the session.

Mr. Mehul provided insightful views and meticulously outlined the various career opportunities in the field of IT while encouraging the students to consider such courses.

In the Q&A session, students asked questions to Mr Mehul, seeking more clarity on career options and cyber-crime.

The session concluded with the Principal extending his heartfelt gratitude to Mr Mehul. The career guidance session left an indelible mark on the young minds, propelling them towards a future filled with hope and purpose.
