BIS #6454 OLD Wadala Vocation Team meet
by Father James Nigrel for BISMumbai
In the Gospel according to St. John, Jesus instructs us that we should “not work for food that perishes but for the food that endures for eternal life” (Jn 6:27). In these words, we can see the importance and purpose of the Priestly Vocation for the world today. The priesthood is an irreplaceable and indispensable vocation in the world because the Priest exists to proclaim the truth that it is in Christ and His Gospel that we come to eternal life. The Priest works for the food that endures for eternal life, not the food that perishes with the end of this earthly life.
Keeping the importance of priestly vocation in mind, on Saturday, 18 September 2021, the Local Vocation Team of Our Lady of Dolours, Wadala had their second meeting. Members present were, Father Blany Pinto-MumbaiSalesians' Vocation Councillor, OLD Rector and Parish Priest-Father James Nigrel, Father Ashwin Mal, FMA nuns Kalyani Subramanium, Jennifer Macwan, together with lay animators Jacinta D’Souza and Cleopatra Farro.
After a brainstorming and as discussed in the earlier meeting it was decided to tap the Sunday School children from Std. V to Std. IX along with the assistance of their respective Catechism Teacher.
Father Velasli Bandya will address the Catechists on Sunday, 03 October 2021, and explain how the teachers would be a mode of communication between the children.
On Sunday, 10 October 2021, Father Bandya will speak to the Sunday School children virtually and try to sow the seeds of vocation in the young minds. The meeting ended with a prayer. The next meeting will be in October.
