On the evening of 7 October 2023, Don Bosco Academy (DBA), Nerul, hosted an open mic show as part of their first anniversary celebrations. This unique event, organised especially for educators, attracted 30 teachers and professors from nearby schools and colleges who came together to showcase their talents and enjoy an evening filled with creativity.
The programme commenced at 6:30 p.m. in the Bosco Hall, providing a perfect backdrop for the diverse range of performances that awaited the eager audience. One of the highlights of the evening was the presence of Mr Kunal Motling, a renowned mime artist, as the chief guest.
The open mic show featured an array of performances that showcased the immense talent of the participants. Several educators took to the stage to showcase their vocal talents; others captured the audience’s imagination with engaging stories, recitation of poems, and sharing of experiences. Humour was not in short supply at the event, as educators delivered witty jokes and hilarious anecdotes during the stand-up comedy segments. The audience was also treated to moving and beautifully recited poems that reflected the deep literary passion of the participants, creating a heartfelt connection with the listeners. These diverse performances revealed the multifaceted talents of these educators beyond their roles in the classroom.
However, the highlight of the evening was undoubtedly Mr Motling’s thrilling performance. His mime act was mesmerising and thought-provoking, leaving the audience in awe of his skill and creativity. His performance served as an inspiration to all those present, emphasising the power of non-verbal communication as a form of artistic expression.
To acknowledge and honour the talents and contributions of the educators, certificates were distributed to all the participants. As the educators left the venue, they did so with smiles on their faces, having finally had the opportunity to stage their long-awaited performances and share their talents with their peers. The event fostered a strong sense of community among educators in the region, celebrating their creativity and contributions to education.
