The Golden Jubilee Youth Fest, marking 50 years of Salesian presence in Gujarat, was a momentous occasion that brought together youngsters from various Don Bosco institutions across the states of Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. The Salesian Golden Jubilee Youth Fest, held held on January 17 to 19, 2025 at Don Bosco, Dakor, was a testament to the enduring legacy of the Salesian mission in Gujarat.

On January 17, 2025, as youngsters from across Gujarat assembled at 6 pm. Registration began promptly, and each participant received a commemorative T-shirt. After the registration process, the youngsters retired for the night, eager to begin the festivities the next day.

The day commenced with a solemn Eucharist celebration at 6:30 am. The inaugural service that followed was a vibrant and meaningful celebration of the Salesian presence in Gujarat. The theme presentation showcased the Salesian mission's impact over the past 50 years. A specially composed song by a Baroda youngster added a touching tribute to the occasion. A prayer dance performed by the youth set the tone for the festivities.

Fr. Ivan de Souza, a Salesian pioneer, Fr. Pravin Macwan, Rector of Don Bosco Dakor, and other religious superiors officially declared the Youth Fest open by releasing pigeons, symbolizing peace and harmony.

The first session, led by Fr. Dinesh Vasava, focused on the spirituality of Don Bosco, emphasizing its significance in the lives of the youngsters. The second session featured Fr. Ivan de Souza and Fr. Stanny Ferreira, who shared their personal experiences and insights from their time in the Gujarat mission.

The youngsters were divided into four teams – blue, green, red, and yellow – and showcased their creativity through chart presentations, nature music, and newspaper fancy dress competitions. The teams also engaged in exciting games like blind throwball and football cricket. In the evening, a campfire was lit, and the youngsters displayed their talents, mesmerizing the audience with their skills.

The final day began with the Holy Eucharist, celebrated by Fr. Ivan de Souza, while Fr. Ashwin Macwan broke the word, emphasizing the importance of Christ's presence in one's life.

The first session of the day was given by Sir Anand Masgaokar, a renowned social worker, who shared valuable insights and experiences. The second session was given by Sir Sailesh Christi, who spoke about the mental health of youngsters.

Following the sessions, a cultural program was held, where youngsters from different Don Bosco institutions displayed their cultural dances, showcasing the unity in diversity that defines the Salesian family.

The teams – red, blue, green, and yellow – were awarded for their efforts, recognizing their hard work and dedication. Fr. Daresh delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants, organizers, and guests.

The Golden Jubilee Youth Fest was a resounding success, bringing together young minds from across Gujarat to celebrate the Salesian legacy and look forward to a brighter future. The event served as a testament to the enduring impact of the Salesian mission in Gujarat, inspiring the youngsters to carry forward the legacy of Don Bosco.
