The inauguration of the state-of-the-art Draughtsman Mechanical Lab at Don Bosco Industrial Training Institute (DBITI), Kurla, on May 10, 2025, marked a significant milestone in the institute's dedication to industry-relevant training and a strengthening of its collaboration with Worley Services India Pvt Ltd. The new facility, equipped with 21 computers and the latest CAD CAM, Fusion 360, and Solidworks software, enhancing the institute's capacity to deliver industry-relevant training to aspiring draughtsmen.
The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome to esteemed guests, notably representatives from Worley, whose support was crucial to the project's success. Dignitaries present included Mr. Raj Mankar, Sr. Vice President, Operations, and his wife, Mrs. ShwetaMankar; Mr. Benny Arimbure, Sr. Director - Construction Management, Mr. SandipJogi, Sr. Director - Operations, Mr. Yatin Mahajan, Director - Engineering, Ms. Khanjari Kumbhar, Director - Project Delivery and Governance, Ms. SavitaKavoor, General Manager and Head of Facilities, Ms. VarshaGupte, Associate General Manager, Design HSE, and Ms. JuhiSinha, CSR.
A key moment was the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the illumination of knowledge. Fr. Tony Pinto, Mr. SandipJogi, Ms. Khanjari Kumbhar, Ms. SavitaKavoor, a trainee draughtsman, and Mr. AmarrPrabhu participated in this auspicious ceremony.
Mr. AmarrPrabhu, Principal, DBTI presented the institute's vision for the lab, emphasizing its role in enhancing trainees' skills and employability. Fr. Anthony Pinto, Rector & Director, DBCL, underscored the importance of industry-institute collaboration, defining their distinct yet complementary roles: the institute as a resource creator, nurturing talent, and providing a strong educational foundation, and industry focusing on production, utilizing that talent.
Trainees Mohd. Kausar Khan and Aznan Kashif Siddique shared compelling testimonies about the program's value. Mr. Raj Mankar expressed his joy at being involved in this impactful project as an alumnus of Don Bosco, Matunga, highlighting a personal connection to the institution's mission. Worley's commitment to skill development was also emphasized.
The institute presented mementos to the esteemed guests as a token of appreciation. Mr. AmarrPrabhu and Fr. Nelson Carvalho, Campus Minister, DBCL, presented an appreciation certificate to Worley, acknowledging their significant contribution.
The ceremony also featured the symbolic act of sapling plantation by Fr. Anthony Pinto and Mr. Raj Mankar, representing growth and sustainability. Fr. Anthony Pinto and Mr. Benny Arimbure then unveiled the plaque, formally inaugurating the Draughtsman Mechanical Lab.
Fr. Anthony Pinto and Mr. Raj Mankar officially inaugurated the lab, followed by a traditional coconut-breaking ceremony by Mr. YatinMahajan. Fr. Nelson Carvalho concluded the proceedings by invoking blessings and sprinkling holy water.
Following the inauguration, dignitaries and trainees engaged in a fruitful interaction, exchanging views on the lab's facilities and training programs.
The inauguration concluded with a memorable hi-tea reception, hosted at the Don Bosco College of Hospitality Studies. The reception featured a specially crafted menu, showcasing the culinary expertise of the hospitality students. The elegant setting provided a relaxed atmosphere for networking and celebration.
