BIS #6686 Investiture Ceremony at DB Nerul

By Mrs Sheryl Jonia D’Souza for BISMumbai

Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, Nerul, conducted the Investiture ceremony for the academic year 2022-23 on 5 and 6 July 2022.

The newly elected School and Class Council members took an oath to uphold the school motto. A very melodious and inspiring song “It takes courage to answer a call” was played in the background reminding the newly elected council members to be true to their responsibilities and give their hundred percent as Prefects and Monitors in their respective classes.

Fr Barnabe D’Souza, the Rector, in his motivating speech wished the council members to follow in the footsteps of St John Bosco, and become great leaders. He emphasised the need of upholding and sharing the values inherited from the school. Mrs Sangita Bhattacharya, the Principal, congratulated the newly appointed school and class council members for their readiness to take up responsibilities. She asked them to use this opportunity well to be a voice to those who might hesitate to speak. Fr Akhil Abraham, the Vice Principal, led the students into prayer asking for the Almighty’s blessings in this new venture of the newly invested leaders.

On 6 July 2022, the school also celebrated the feast of St Dominic Savio. A solemn prayer service was held for the staff and students of other faiths, while the Holy Eucharist was celebrated by Fr D'Souza for the Catholic staff and students.

In the Pre-Primary section, the day started with prayer and a video presentation on the life of St Dominic Savio followed by fun activities, dance and games in a true Salesian spirit. The Primary section celebrated the feast by conducting the Dominic Savio Colouring Competition, Quote Decoration and other enjoyable games. In the Secondary sections, various Telegames were organised for their students. The playground was filled with excitement as the Senior students enjoyed ‘Monsoon Madness' on the turf with games like Football, Dodgeball and Handball.

It was a day of smiles and many beautiful memories for all.
