BIS #6851 41st Annual Sports Day at DB Yerwada

Don Bosco Educomplex, Yerwada, hosted its 41st Annual Sports day on 10 December 2022. This event was held for the first time after the Covid pandemic. The Annual Sports Day kindles in the students, a refreshed zeal and the spirit of sportsmanship – encouraging them to be persistent and achieve greater heights of success.

The event began with the arrival of the Chief Guest Col. K. P. Nair, an alumni of Kendriya Vidyalaya, a green-tech advocate. He serves in the Indian Military especially in the tribal areas of Rajasthan, North India and has worked under the prestigious Blue Umbrella Forces of United Nations at Republic of Congo in Central Africa.

After the ceremonial escorting of the Chief Guest to the dais, Fr Michael Bansode, the Manager and Rector of Don Bosco Educomplex, welcomed the Chief Guest. Having invoked the blessings of the Almighty in prayer, the students who had won accolades at State and District levels were invited to ignite the torch signaling the commencement of the inauguration ceremony. This was followed by the inter-house marchpast, hoisting of the School Flag, singing of the school anthem, and taking the oath of sportsmanship. The Chief Guest then declared the Sports Meet open.

With the theme of ‘The Season of Creation’ in focus, the students performed the mass drill with colourful props related to nature like water drops, trees, butterflies and sunflowers. The floats that followed conveyed the message, ‘Control your greed, conserve nature, keep it clean and green’. Students actively participated in the variety of sporting events and athletics.

The much-awaited prize distribution ceremony began by declaring the House Champion. Red house emerged as the House Champion and the individual champions were cheered on by their schoolmates. Mr Sahil Mhaske and Ms Asawari Shinde won the Best Athlete awards. Mr Nair, complimented the principal, teachers and students for the excellence in sports and meticulous organisation of the sports meet. The event concluded with the vote of thanks and the singing of the National Anthem.
