BIS #7330 Revitalizing the Music Room at Don Bosco Academy Alirajpur
by Vimal Deverkiya and Sophiya Bhabor for BIS Mumbai
The Music room at Don Bosco Academy, Alirajpur has a new face today, a lively area intended to stimulate students' creativity and cultivate a love for music. The music room, equipped with new instruments and extensive renovations, is set to become a center of musical talent and collaboration. A state-of-the-art sound system with 12 guitars, 4 keyboards, and 6 harmoniums were added during the transformation.
The music department is divided into three different parts namely singing, Brass instruments and musical instruments. There is a separate club that caters to the students who are interested in learning music on Mondays and Thursdays. Besides this arrangement, there are three special groups that have become the backbone of the music at Don Bosco Alirajpur - around 30 singers have been selected from the various sections of the school (Primary- 10 students, Middle secondary – 10 students, Higher Secondary – 10 Students). These students practice every day for 1 hour and 20 minutes under a professional vocalist Mr Fardin Ali to train their voice; the other two groups too invest an equal amount of time on a daily basis, to learn the guitar, keyboard, drums, table, conga and the brass instruments. The musical instruments are taught by Mr Sonu Bhabor whereas the practice session of the brass instruments is facilitated by Fr Xavier Bandya and Mr Sebastian Dixon. The singers, the accompanists and the brass instruments, all come in unison to create a perfect symphony at Don Bosco, Alirajpur on all occasions.
The Management team dreams of fostering the musical talent of the next generation of artists by offering a top-notch musical education. Special thanks to teacher Shabnam Pathan, Ms Fatema Burhani and Ms Bharti Prajapati for designing the room conceptualized by Mr Sonu Bhabor, the music teacher of the school.
