In a heart-warming tribute to the pillars of wisdom and love in our families, Grandparents Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy on July 26, 2025 at Don Bosco Vidyalaya (school), Savedi. The event aimed not only to honour grandparents but also to recognize their pivotal role in shaping the lives of young children and enriching the school community.
The celebration began with a gracious welcome ceremony as the young students from the primary section greeted the grandparents with traditional Lazim performances and bright smiles. The school entrance was beautifully decorated with flowers, rangolis, and a selfie point with a love shaped balloon arch — setting a festive and respectful tone for the occasion.
The day unfolded with a series of vibrant cultural performances:
A melodious prayer song invoking blessings for all grandparents
A heart-touching welcome song sung in unison by the choir group
Thematic dances reflecting the beauty of family and tradition
Poems composed and recited by students, expressing emotions only a grandchild can feel
A short but powerful skit showcasing the role of grandparents as protectors and guides in a child’s life
Each performance was dedicated to celebrating the unconditional love, care, and nurturing presence that grandparents bring into our lives.
The program emphasized the invaluable role of grandparents in children’s emotional and moral development. Grandparents are often the first storytellers, the keepers of tradition, and the silent teachers of patience, kindness, and resilience. They instil values, offer emotional security, and contribute greatly to the informal education of children. Their stories and life lessons help children understand the past and shape a hopeful future.
To further engage and delight the grandparents, the school organized several interactive games and fun activities such as: A lively round of musical chairs, passing the parcel and several spot prizes.
Laughter filled the campus as grandparents enthusiastically participated, reliving their childhood and bonding with not just their own grandchildren but the entire school family.
Their presence not only uplifted the spirit of the students but also reminded everyone of the rich legacy and support system they provide.
The school’s initiative aimed to make grandparents feel valued, honored, and included as an important part of the educational system.
The program concluded with an emotional vote of thanks delivered by Principal Fr Ajit Munis, who warmly thanked all the grandparents for gracing the occasion. He emphasized their contributions to the upbringing and education of the children and appreciated the time, stories, and values they pass down through generations.
The day ended on a sweet note with refreshments served to all guests, followed by group photographs capturing precious moments of joy and togetherness.
Grandparents Day 2025 was truly a celebration of love across generations — a day that not only honoured the golden hearts of our elders but also strengthened the intergenerational bond that shapes the foundation of our children's future.
