Don Bosco High School & Jr College in Naigaon, celebrated its 25th Annual Thanksgiving Day, on February 1, 2025, marking the conclusion of its Silver Jubilee celebrations. The event was a memorable occasion, bringing together students, alumni, staff, and distinguished guests to reflect on the school’s growth and future. With the theme “Hold My Hand,” the event highlighted the mission of St. John Bosco, whose principles continue to guide the institution. The evening was filled with heartfelt gratitude and excitement, as over 800 students showcased their talents through a variety of performances. From a musical celebration to a touching documentary chronicling the school’s history, the event embodied the spirit of community and progress. Past pupils also participated, offering personal tributes that added depth to the occasion. The evening culminated in the theatrical musical “Hold My Hand,” a powerful representation of the school’s vision to empower young minds to grow into responsible citizens.

Fr Dominic Martis, the Rector, opened the event by welcoming the audience and reflecting on the school’s remarkable journey over the past 25 years. He praised the collective efforts of everyone who contributed to the institution’s growth and success, highlighting the dedication that had made the Silver Jubilee possible.

A key highlight of the evening was the presence of Fr Savio Silveira, the Salesian Provincial of the Mumbai Province, who was the Chief Guest. His visit included the inauguration and blessing of the school’s newly constructed third floor, symbolizing the institution’s continued expansion. In his speech, Fr Silveira expressed deep gratitude to F. William Falcao, the school’s founder and first principal, for his vision and commitment to establishing the institution. He noted that Fr Falcao’s foresight laid the foundation for the school’s success, allowing it to flourish into a beacon of education.

Fr Silveira also emphasized the theme of the evening, “Hold My Hand,” drawing on St. John Bosco’s belief in guiding young people towards the light of knowledge, goodness, and service. He reminded everyone that the school’s motto, “Let Your Light Shine,” was not just about academic achievement, but about cultivating compassion, truth, and service. He urged the students to take this “light” into the world, embodying Don Bosco’s legacy of service to the marginalized and the needy.

The Silver Jubilee celebrations also included a documentary titled Transforming Lives, directed by Vice-Principal Fr Joaquim Fernandes, which chronicled the school’s journey from its humble beginnings. Fr William Falcao, the Administrator, who shared the challenges faced during the school’s early years, described the school’s growth as a process of overcoming obstacles, similar to the cracking of a coconut shell that allows new life to emerge. The event also honoured long-serving staff members, including Mr Pankaj Pandey, who was celebrated for his 25 years of dedicated service.

Fr Anthony Fonseca, the current Principal, expressed gratitude to the entire school community for their hard work and support in making the Silver Jubilee a success.

As Don Bosco High School & Jr College moves forward towards its Golden Jubilee, the legacy of St John Bosco’s mission remains strong. The celebration served not only as a moment to honour the past but as a reminder of the bright future ahead, where the light of goodness, truth, and service will continue to shine, guiding generations of students on their journey.
