Mumbai, July 11: Don Bosco Borivali, Mumbai marked International Plastic Bag Free Day on July 11, 2025, with a meaningful environmental awareness initiative that brought together students in collective action against plastic pollution. The school organized a hands-on activity focused on promoting sustainable practices and educating young minds about the detrimental effects of plastic bags on our environment. This observance aligned perfectly with global efforts to reduce plastic waste and encourage eco-friendly alternatives in daily life.
As part of this impactful program, 80 Scouts and 40 Guides from Grade 8 actively participated in creating reusable bags using recycled materials including old cloth and denim jeans. The project demonstrated the principles of upcycling and waste reduction while providing students with practical skills in crafting environmentally responsible alternatives to single-use plastic bags. Through this initiative, the 120 participating students not only contributed to environmental conservation but also gained valuable hands-on experience in sustainable living practices, reinforcing the importance of individual action in addressing global environmental challenges.
