BIS #6046 RECOLLECTION AT DON BOSCO NARUKOT

by Father Ajit Munis for BISMumbai

A monthly recollection on ‘Poverty’ was organized by the Don Bosco Narukot community on

14 July 2020, wherein 18 confreres from the region participated. Father Isaac Arackaparambil was the main preacher.

Basing himself on the scriptures, Salesian Constitution and GC 27, he pointed out that the

roots of poverty lie in Jesus who was born poor, lived poor and died poor. Don Bosco, our father and founder lived his poverty through detachment of heart, generous service, austerity and hard work. Furthermore, taking the cue from GC 27, he urged the confreres to make a shift towards new poverties; to promote human rights, create an ecological awareness; have solidarity with the needy; be transparent and evaluate the building structures.

A few questions on personal and community poverty for reflection, enabled the participating confreres to examine their life of poverty.
