Don Bosco Chinchwad marked an important step in its journey towards sustainable and skill-based education with the blessing ceremony of a Cut-Section body of an Electric Vehicle (E-Vehicle). The initiative is aimed at strengthening hands-on training in green automotive technologies.
The E-Vehicle Cut-Section, sponsored by Schaeffler India, was officially blessed by Fr Savio Silveira, Provincial of the Salesian Province of Mumbai. Fr Ashley Miranda, Provincial Elect, led the opening prayers and invoked blessings on the newly installed unit, which is now a part of the institute’s growing Electric Vehicle Lab.
“This addition enhances our existing infrastructure and will be a valuable asset in offering practical exposure to students,” said Mr Nilesh Chandgude, Principal of Don Bosco Chinchwad, while expressing gratitude to Schaeffler India for their support. He emphasised that such industry-linked contributions help bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world applications.
The event also featured a technical walkthrough by representatives from BS6 Auto India LLP, who explained the components and working principles of the E-Vehicle Cut-Section model, providing context and clarity for faculty and students present.
In his remarks, Mr Yogesh Kapse, CSR Head of Schaeffler India, appreciated the institute’s commitment to technical education and praised the collaborative spirit that brought the project to life. Fr Savio Silveira, in his address, commended the Don Bosco management for their vision in creating industry-relevant training spaces and encouraged the staff and students to uphold high standards in both skill development and discipline.
Fr Anton D’Souza, Director of Don Bosco Chinchwad, extended special thanks to Mr Yogesh Kapse and Mr Gaurav Chaudhary, CSR Executive at Schaeffler India, for their continued support. He also acknowledged Fr Silveira’s contributions in promoting industry-linked projects such as the EV Lab, Fitter’s Lab, and DB ACE Computer Lab, which have significantly enhanced the institute’s technical education offering.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of Fr Gregory Almeida, Economer of the Mumbai Province, Mr Rahul Inamdar, CEO of BS6 Auto India LLP, along with Mr Anurag Sharma and Mr Nelson Dsouza, Partners in the EV Segment at BS6 Auto. Also present was Mr Himanshu Limaye, Assistant Manager CSR at KSB Ltd., who was acknowledged for his support in the launch of a new Fitter cum CNC Course. The course was formally announced during the event by Fr D’Souza and Mr Chandgude, marking another milestone in the institute’s technical offerings.
The event concluded with a symbolic and eco-friendly gesture, as all dignitaries were presented with ‘Sow and Grow’ seed kits—serving as a reminder of the institute’s enduring commitment to sustainability, growth, and community development.
