"A summer spent learning is a summer never wasted—where every skill, smile, and step forward becomes a memory of growth."
The month-long Summer Camp 2025 at Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, Nerul, came to a heartwarming conclusion on May 23, with a vibrant Closing Ceremony that celebrated learning, growth, and joyful participation.
Throughout the camp, students engaged in a rich mix of activities that included sports like football, basketball, hockey, and gymnastics, and creative sessions such as music, mandala art, embroidery, bakery, abacus, beauty, nail care, graphic design and many more. Each session was led by dedicated instructors who created a welcoming and motivating environment, helping students step out of their comfort zones and discover new talents.
The Closing Ceremony was smoothly and gracefully anchored by Master Vinayak Bhatia, our school student, whose presence added warmth to the event. Students took the stage to share reflections about their experiences—how they overcame fears, learned new skills, made friends, and discovered hidden strengths. These stories captured the true essence of the camp: personal growth, not competition.
In a departure from conventional award ceremonies, the focus remained on participation, over prizes. Every participant received a Certificate of Participation, a gesture that acknowledged the unique efforts and journeys of each student. The appreciation from both parents and students made it a meaningful and inclusive celebration.
A highlight of the day was the inspirational address by Fr Shekar Mariadas, who shared a powerful message built around the idea of SSI – Socialising, Skilling, and Independence. He encouraged students to continue socialising in healthy, respectful ways to build strong relationships. He emphasized skilling, urging them to use their talents and creativity to learn and contribute. He also promoted independence, highlighting the importance of becoming responsible and self-reliant individuals. His words resonated deeply in the minds of the participants, leaving a lasting impact on everyone present.
The event also included energetic dance performances by the students, which brought colour, rhythm, and cheer to the stage. These performances reflected the confidence, teamwork, and joy developed over the month.
The day concluded with a lively group photography session, capturing the laughter, friendships, and moments that made the camp unforgettable. The summer camp reflected not just fun, but the sense of community that had grown among students and mentors alike.
The Don Bosco Summer Camp ended not just with trophies but with open hearts, new skills, and lasting memories, staying true to the school’s commitment to holistic development.
