by Fr Ashwin Macwan for BIS Mumbai
Salesian Parents' Day and the Golden Jubilee of Salesian Presence in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan was joyfully celebrated on February 2, 2025, at Don Bosco Alirajpur.
The day commenced with a solemn Holy Eucharist, presided over by Fr. Pratap Damor, Rector of Don Bosco Kapadvanj. The celebration was introduced by Fr Mathew Katara, followed by an inspiring homily by Fr Cyril D' Souza, Rector of Don Bosco Alirajpur. In his sermon, Fr Cyril reflected on the Presentation of the Lord, emphasizing the importance of surrendering to God and discerning one's vocation.
Following the Eucharistic celebration, Fr Pratap Damor extended a warm welcome to all attendees. A felicitation ceremony honored the parents, brothers, and sisters of the Salesians, who were presented with shawls, coconuts, and floral bouquets as tokens of appreciation.
The gathering then enjoyed a fellowship meal, fostering a spirit of communion and gratitude. The afternoon was enriched by a cultural program performed by the Boarding boys, offering entertainment for the Salesians’ families. Fr Ashwin and Fr. Mathew further engaged the parents with a lively housie game.
As a special memento of the Golden Jubilee, each parent and family member received a commemorative cup, keychain, and rosary. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Fr Ashwin Mal, acknowledging the contributions of Fr Cyril D’ Souza, the Salesian community, the Disciple Sisters, and the boarding boys of Alirajpur for their invaluable support and arrangements.
The celebration was a meaningful tribute to the Salesian mission, honoring the legacy of Don Bosco and strengthening the bond between Salesians and their families.
