BIS #6754 Celebrating Freedom at DBCL Kurla

By Fr Mario Vaz for BISMumbai

The staff and students of Don Bosco Centre for Learning Kurla came together on the morning of the 15 of August to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of India’s Independence. It was a colourful turnout and a proud moment when the Rector, Fr Anthony Pinto, along with a young student hoisted the National Flag as the entire gathering saluted and sang the National Anthem.

Fr Mario Vaz, the Executive Director of DBIT, then addressed the audience and reminded them of the progress that India has made over these years. He pointed out the significant contributions by ordinary patriotic individuals who through their valuable and path breaking efforts have ensured that the last and least of the citizens of the country have the opportunities to enhance their professional lives and contribute to the well-being and prosperity of remote communities.

Mrs Dipti Jadhav gave the audience food for thought as she recited couplets that recalled the glories of India and invited all to make their own contributions to India’s further development.

Fr Nelson Carvalho noted that all of us can be a bridge to the future of India through our efforts to act in a manner that frees us from all hatred, discrimination and violence. The freedom our founders fought for should be strengthened to build a united and better India.
