BIS #6742 Patriotic Festival at DB Borivli

By Neelam Rodrigues for BISMumbai

India is all set to commemorate its 75th Independence Day on August 15 this year with the theme ‘Nation First, Always First’. In line with these celebrations, a patriotic festival was held for the secondary students of Don Bosco High School, Borivli on 11 August 2022.

There was an eclectic mix of programs being organised for the different classes. The students of Classes 5 and 6 had a patriotic singing competition. The students of Classes 7 and 8 danced to the tunes of some heart rending songs praising mother India. The students of Classes 9 and 10 had a chance to display a historical event of their choice. They had to share the message through their act and the charts displayed. No words or actions were allowed.

The judges had a tough time selecting the best groups as all the classes gave an alluring performance. More than the performances, what was heartening was that every student of each class had participated in the event.

In his famous Independence Day speech, Jawaharlal Nehru said, “Long years ago, we made a tryst with destiny and now that time comes when we shall redeem our pledge. At the stroke of today’s midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom.”

As the country celebrates this great event, Don Bosco High School, Borivli, endeavours to instill in the students the idea to contribute to the life and freedom of this great motherland with honesty and integrity!
