BIS #7450 BRIDGE Programme Launched at DISHA Don Bosco, Kawant

On January 6, 2025, DISHA Don Bosco, the social wing of Kawant Education Society, launched the first Skill Development batch under the BRIDGE Programme (Bosch’s Response to India’s Development & Growth through Employability Enhancement). The launch event was graced by several dignitaries, including Mr. Kirit Dholakiya, CEO of the Rotary Club of Baroda (Jawaharnagar branch); Mr. Hemant Patel and his team from Muni Seva Ashram, Ghoraj; Sr. Regina Chauhan, Superior of Nikol Bhavan, Kawant; Fr. Mayank Parmar, Director of DISHA Don Bosco, Kawant; Fr. Ajay Shelke, Principal of Don Bosco High School, Kawant; and Fr. Shaun D’Lima, Administrator of Don Bosco, Kawant.
The inaugural ceremony began with a meaningful prayer service led by the staff of DISHA Don Bosco. Following this, the dignitaries ceremoniously lit the lamp, symbolizing the light of knowledge and hope that this programme aims to bring into the lives of the youth. Each guest was then felicitated with a bouquet of flowers as a token of appreciation.
In his keynote address, Fr. Mayank Parmar, SDB, warmly welcomed the gathering and emphasized that success in life is achieved through the harmonious use of one’s body, mind, and heart. He elaborated on the legacy and mission of Don Bosco institutions, which are dedicated to the education and empowerment of young people. Fr. Parmar highlighted the distinctive education system of Don Bosco, which is marked by its commitment to holistic development.
The Chief Guest, Mr Kirit Dholakiya, expressed the Rotary Club’s dedication to empowering underprivileged youth through skill development initiatives. He assured the audience that the Rotary Club remains committed to helping young people gain the skills they need to become self-reliant.
Mr Hemant Patel from Muni Seva Ashram shared detailed insights into the various programmes offered by their organization. He proudly announced that this centre at DISHA Don Bosco is the third extended centre of Muni Seva Ashram. He thanked Don Bosco for their partnership and commitment to running the programme. Mr Patel assured the gathering that the training would be conducted at DISHA Don Bosco, Kawant, and emphasized their commitment to providing job placements for the students. He also mentioned that further training opportunities would be available to those who wish to continue after completing the BRIDGE Programme.
The first batch of the BRIDGE Programme comprises 40 students, which the trainer, Mr Raju Rathwa, described as a promising start. The course will run for two months, culminating in a valedictory function where students will receive certificates and a refund of their deposits. This makes the programme entirely free of cost, supported by DISHA Don Bosco, the Rotary Club of Baroda, and Muni Seva Ashram.
The two-month curriculum, designed by BOSCH, includes a mix of audio-visual aids and textbooks. Mr Rathwa will conduct the sessions using multimedia projection equipment to ensure an interactive and effective learning experience.
The students attending the launch expressed their excitement and eagerness to participate in the programme. Many shared their determination to attend classes regularly and make the most of this opportunity.
The BRIDGE Programme at DISHA Don Bosco, Kawant, marks a significant milestone in empowering rural youth with employable skills.
