Under the guidance of youth director Fr Bastin Thomas, the youth of St Dominic Savio, Wadala East parish, organized a joyous Grandparents and Parents Day on Saturday, July 27, 2024. The event began with a Eucharistic celebration at 6:30 pm, led by Fr Kenneth and Fr Bastin. The program attended by around 200 people commenced in the hall at 7:45 pm with a graceful prayer dance performed by young children of the Sunday School.
Following this, the parish priest, Fr Kenneth, delivered a heartfelt address in which he dedicated a song to grandparents and parents, conveying the message that love in one's heart keeps one forever young. The evening's entertainment included a captivating dance performance by young children, a skit by the Altar Servers, a melodious medley of English and Hindi songs by the Choir, and an energetic dance by the youth. The festivities also featured engaging games and spot prizes, with a talented DJ providing lively music throughout the event.
The event beautifully showcased the harmony and joy of grandparents, parents, and children coming together, creating a vibrant and heartwarming atmosphere. Guests enjoyed delicious snacks and a sumptuous dinner, and the program concluded at 10:30 pm with a vote of thanks from the vice president of the youth.
Continuing the celebration, the Tamil-speaking youth, under the guidance of Fr Noel Raj, organized Parents Day for the Tamil-speaking community in the Parish Hall on Sunday, July 28, following the 6:15 pm evening Mass. The event was attended by approximately 300 people and began with the lighting of the lamp. The highlights included a welcome song, a prayer dance, a ramp walk, boys' and girls' dance performances, and a special youth performance. Spot prizes were given in between the performances, adding to the excitement of the evening.
The combined celebrations of both days culminated in a grand display of unity and love within the parish community. The joyous atmosphere, filled with music, dance, and heartfelt messages, left a lasting impression on all attendees, underscoring the enduring legacy of love and togetherness.
