Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra to Reach Over 30 Schools with Digital Awareness Initiatives
July 7, 2025, Ahmednagar – The Digital Literacy Project, spearheaded by Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra (BGVK), was inaugurated with enthusiasm at Hatdhui Ashram School, Dhadgaon. The initiative aims to promote digital literacy, digital safety, reproductive health education, and awareness on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) among students in tribal schools.
Over the next two years, students from Grades 9 to 12 will receive education on digital literacy, cybercrime, and digital fraud. For younger students, the focus will be on WASH and reproductive health education.
The inaugural event was presided over by Mr Shivaji Vadvi, Headmaster of Hatdhui Ashram School, with Fr George Dabreó, Director of Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra, as the Chief Guest. Also present was Mr Kuvarsing Valvi, President of the School Management Committee. The dignitaries interacted with the students and shared insights on the importance of responsible digital engagement.
In his address, Fr George Dabreó said, “If students from remote tribal areas receive proper digital education and value-based guidance, they can be as competent as students from urban areas. True transformation happens when education connects with life—and today marks the beginning of that transformation.”
Mr Vadvi, in his presidential remarks, noted, “Today’s student uses a mobile phone, but it is crucial that they also understand how the mobile uses them. Initiatives like this will guide them in the right direction.”
This project represents a significant step toward bridging the digital divide in rural regions. Through the efforts of BGVK, students will be equipped to develop a safe, meaningful, and responsible relationship with technology.
The programme was conducted smoothly by Mr Sunil Pawara, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Fr Ajay. Contributions to the success of the event also came from Rakesh Pawara, Vandana Valvi, Nilesh Pawara, and Kishor Valvi.
This initiative is poised to become a milestone in the holistic development of students. In the digital age, not just access to technology, but its responsible and secure use is the need of the hour. Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra’s endeavor will surely serve as a model for the future.
