by Fr Ajay D’monte for BIS Mumbai

On October 12, 2024, St. Anne’s Church in Ahmednagar celebrated the inauguration of its new Catechetical Centre. This initiative represents the collective efforts of the entire Ahmednagar region, with key involvement from Don Bosco Waluj, Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra, and the three parishes of Ahmednagar. The Centre was officially inaugurated and blessed by Fr Briston Britto and Br Vincent Negrel, marking a significant milestone for the local faith community.

The event was honored by the presence of all the priests from Ahmednagar, along with the catechism students and the faithful from the three participating parishes. In his address, Fr Britto highlighted the importance of the Catechetical Centre in advancing the Parish’s mission to provide a comprehensive and practical catechism program. He expressed his belief that this new facility would not only deepen the children’s faith but also inspire their passion for learning about Jesus and bring them closer to Him.

The inauguration was filled with excitement, particularly among the catechism students and the congregation who participated in the ceremony. A positive and joyful atmosphere pervaded the entire campus, reflecting the importance of this occasion.

This year is considered a "dream year" for the Congregation, as the long-held aspiration to establish a Catechetical Centre in Ahmednagar has finally become a reality. The initiative was spearheaded by Fr Savio Silveira, the Provincial, Fr George D’Abreo, the regional in-charge, and Fr Briston Britto, the head of the new Catechetical Centre.

Special recognition was given to Br Vincent Nigrel, who is celebrating his Golden Jubilee of religious profession this year. His involvement in inaugurating the Centre added a personal and meaningful touch to the event, further enhancing the significance of the day for all involved.
