by BISMumbai Correspondent

On 10 June 2019 MumbaiSalesians’ Father Reginald Gracias passed away at St. Dominic Savio Boys' Home Andheri-Mumbai. The funeral Mass was celebrated on 11 June 2019 at the Shrine of Don Bosco's Madonna, Matunga followed by burial at the Sewri Christian Cemetery, Mumbai.

Born in the quaint coastal village of Uttan on 10 March 1953 to Juze and Luzmary, in a large family with 08 children, Reggie was the youngest, the ‘Benjamin’ of the household. Following a meeting in 1975, with Father Eliseo Bianchi [of happy memory] at Our Lady of the Sea parish at Uttan, Reggie's tryst with the Salesian of Don Bosco began.

On 24 May 1988 - Don Bosco's death centenary - Reggie made his 1st religious profession at the Salesian Training Institute, Nashik. After a long journey that had its share of ups and downs, Reggie was finally ordained a priest on 21 December 1998. He served with dedication in the Salesian Province of Bombay [INB] at various levels. From 2014 – 2019, Father Reggie was placed at St Dominic Savio Boys' Home, Andheri-Mumbai, for medical rest, while serving as the community Catechist.
