BIS #7452 Green Skill Development Programme Inaugurated at BGVK

The Green Skill Development Programme (GSDP) on "Solar Enterprises Assistant Manager," organized by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), was inaugurated at Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra (BGVK) on January 7. This 30-day intensive training program aims to equip the participants with practical skills and knowledge in solar energy enterprises. This initiative seeks to uplift marginalized communities by fostering sustainable livelihoods and empowering participants to contribute to environmental conservation.
The inauguration ceremony featured esteemed dignitaries, including Mr Ganesh Wayase, a solar energy entrepreneur with over a decade of experience; Fr Ajay D’Monte, a career counsellor; Fr George, Director of Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra; Fr Clarence and Fr Bento. Each speaker highlighted the transformative potential of this program for the SC community, focusing on skill development and economic empowerment.
Mr Ganesh Wayase provided valuable insights into the economic opportunities within the solar energy sector. He explained how the renewable energy industry is thriving and offers immense potential for employment and entrepreneurship. “This program is a unique opportunity for students to step into the green energy revolution. Solar enterprises can generate significant economic growth while addressing energy needs sustainably,” he said.
He reinforced these views, emphasizing the growing demand for skilled professionals in the solar energy sector. the industry requires a robust workforce equipped with practical skills and entrepreneurial mindset. "This program is not just about learning technical skills; it is about building a sustainable career in a sector that is growing exponentially," he added.
Fr Ajay D’Monte motivated the participants to make the most of this opportunity. "This program is your platform to learn, grow, and build a brighter future. Fr George, Director of BGVK, underscored the importance of empowering less-privileged communities. He said, “At BGVK, we are committed to creating opportunities for the less empowered youth. This program is more than just technical training—it’s a step toward building confidence, self-reliance, and a better tomorrow for these students.”
The course, developed under the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, combines theoretical lessons with practical training. Participants will gain expertise in solar system installation, maintenance, and management, along with soft skills training to enhance their employability.
The dignitaries emphasized the program's potential to address unemployment and create skilled professionals in the renewable energy sector. With TERI and BGVK’s collaborative efforts, this initiative is a significant milestone in uplifting marginalized communities and promoting sustainable development in Ahmednagar and beyond.
