The esteemed Rt. Rev. Rethna Swamy, Bishop of the Diocese of Ahmedabad, paid a pastoral visit to Don Bosco Parish, Kapadvanj, on 8 August 2023. He was accompanied by his secretary, Fr Anton Macwan.

The visit was met with great excitement and enthusiasm from the Parishioners, staff, and students, as well as the Salesian community, who gathered to witness this significant occasion. The Bishop's arrival was marked by a warm welcome with song, flowers, and an address.

Fr Pratap Damor, the Rector and Parish Priest, welcomed the Bishop on behalf of the institute. During the Eucharistic Celebration, the Bishop delivered an inspiring sermon that resonated deeply with those in attendance. His words focused on the themes of courage and fear, urging the faithful present to extend their hands to those in need and to work together for the betterment of society.

After the Eucharistic Celebration, the Bishop interacted with the staff of Don Bosco Kapadvanj, where he thanked them for the support given to the Apostolic Ministry. He said, "It's heartening to see people from all walks of life coming together under the banner of faith and goodwill.” He also went to the different sectors of Don Bosco Kapadvanj and paid a visit.

He also visited the Catholic families, interacted with them, and prayed for and blessed them. In the afternoon, he visited the Dasavada village, where he met the Self Help Group (SHG) and the beneficiaries of other rural empowerment projects. He was received in the village with much happiness. It was heartening to see the Bishop take the time to personally greet and converse with attendees, creating an atmosphere of personal connection. 

The visit also included meetings with the Salesian community at Kapadvanj. The Bishop also preached the recollection, for which the Salesian community of Dakor also joined. The event was not only a spiritual gathering but also a moment for the Salesian communities to come together in fellowship. "I am humbled by the warmth and hospitality shown by the Salesians at Don Bosco, Kapadvanj," the Bishop remarked, expressing his gratitude. 

Bishop Rethna Swamy’s pastoral visit to Kapadvanj has undoubtedly left a positive impact on the Salesians and the Christian community as well.
