In alignment with the “Beat Plastic Movement” and as part of our ongoing efforts to promote environmental awareness and responsible waste disposal, Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, Nerul, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Smart City, Navi Mumbai, and NMMC, organized a Special E-Waste and Single-Use Plastic Collection Competition for all students and the broader school community.
The drive witnessed overwhelmingly enthusiastic participation from students across all stages—right from the Foundational-1 Stage to the Secondary Stage. Under the able guidance of teachers and with the active support of parents, students collected and contributed various types of e-waste, including old chargers, mobile phones, batteries, keyboards, non-functional gadgets, and more.
The initiative truly became a community affair as not only students but also their families, all teachers, and neighbourhood societies joined hands to maximize the impact of the event.
Due to the collective efforts, the school community managed to collect an astounding 190 kilograms of e-waste, along with a significant amount of single-use plastic, well within the prescribed guidelines.
The campaign was further strengthened by the participation of many parents who submitted collected materials during the Parent-Teacher Meeting held on Saturday, 26th July 2025. Teachers motivated their classes and ensured every student played their part. Additionally, neighbourhood societies joined the cause, demonstrating the power of unity towards environmental sustainability.
To recognize these efforts, all participants are set to receive digital certificates, and the class that made the highest contribution will be awarded a trophy. These incentives encouraged healthy competition and reinforced the values of environmental stewardship among the students.
The remarkable success of this drive stands as a testament to the school’s commitment towards creating a cleaner and greener planet. The involvement of students (from the youngest to the oldest), teachers, parents, and the wider community highlights the strength of collective action and responsible citizenship.
Moving forward, Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, Nerul aspires to continue leading such meaningful initiatives to instill lifelong sustainable habits in the young generation.
Let us all continue to do our part in protecting the environment!
