BIS #6765 Rewind, Relive and Reconnect

By Mrs Lisa Dominic for BISMumbai

The Annual Alumni Meet of Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, Nerul was held on 15 August 2022. Excitement filled the air as a crowd of about 360 spirited past pupils returned to their alma mater to rewind, relive and reconnect.

The formal proceedings commenced with an introduction followed by the school prayer and the school anthem which revived memories of a normal day in school. The Rector, Fr Barnabe D’Souza, extended a warm welcome to the past pupils. While speaking about the new academy which would be soon operational Fr D’Souza spoke about the facilities such as psychological services, incubation labs, start-ups which would be provided for the past pupils in the future. He also exhorted the past pupils to help in the various outreach programmes for the underprivileged including the NIOS, oratory activities and community fridge.

In his address to the past pupils, the local Past Pupil Delegate, Fr Adolph Furtado elucidated how Don Bosco, Nerul, would also provide guidance for enhancement of careers, choosing a career within a career, overseas educational possibilities and placements which would help the past pupils to plan and manage their careers. ‘Let no past pupil of Don Bosco stand alone’ he added.

The alumni and the staff then enjoyed the nostalgia brought on by a fun filled inter-house quiz comprising questions on history of the school, general knowledge and funny Hindi to English translated film songs. The past pupils walked down memory lane and recollected how they would participate in inter-house competitions and compete with each other for the first position. Games like Football, Basketball, Dodgeball, Chess and Table Tennis were organised after the programme. Fr Akhil Abraham, the Vice Principal, then presented the trophies and cash prizes to the proud winners at the end of the day.

“Thankfully, after 2 years of the pandemic, we all got to come together under one roof and relive our lives as a Bosco student for a day. From the morning prayer, school anthem to sports afterwards, the Alumni Meet brought us back to a time when life was simpler and fun too. I’m really grateful to have been able to come back to school.” said Ms Ananya Nair from the Batch of 2019.
