by Br. Vishal Waghmare for BISMumbai

MumbaiSalesians' Provincial Father Savio Silveira installed Father Roy Noronha as the Rector of Shelter Don Bosco, Wadala (W) - Mumbai, on 16 june 2020.

In a simple yet meaningful ceremony, Father Noronha installed as a 1st time Rector, is now all set to give new impetus to Shelter Don Bosco - a Child Care Institute (CCI) for Children in Need of Care and Protection (CNCP). In his homily, Father Silveira affirmed that the 1st installation after his return from the GC28, was happening in a place whose work is, indeed, close to the heart of Don Bosco. Quoting Art. 55 of the Salesian Constitutions, Father Silveira said, "a Rector is first called to unite the community. The Rector has to guide his flock like Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd. But in all this, it is also imperative that the community reciprocates and supports the Rector. It's only then that the work of the Kingdom is successfully carried out."

Acknowledging the role entrusted to him Father Noronha said, "It is indeed a delicate role that I would have to play as the spiritual head of the community." The ceremony concluded with the Salesian anthem.
