The Annual Sports Meet for pre-primary students at Don Bosco School and Junior College, Nashik, held on Thursday, December 5, 2024, was a vibrant celebration of teamwork, physical activity, and the joy of competition. The event aimed to promote healthy development through fun and energetic activities in a nurturing environment.

The day kicked off with a warm welcome for the Chief Guest, Mrs Chitra Sandip Dhakane, a distinguished figure in the world of sports. She was honored with a Guard of Honour by the school’s scouts. Accompanying her were Rector and Manager, Fr Royal, Principal, Fr Rixson Nigrel, and other dignitaries, all contributing to a memorable and inspiring atmosphere.

Fr Royal, the Rector, gave the opening address, emphasizing the importance of sports in fostering well-rounded education. Tr. Joyce, Supervisor of the Primary Section, introduced Mrs. Dhakane, highlighting her remarkable career as a Maharashtra State Hockey Coach, District Sports Officer, and National Netball Player. Her dedication to sports across various regions, including Aurangabad and Nashik, was acknowledged with a warm felicitation by the Principal.

The event officially began with the hoisting of the Annual Sports Day Flag by Mrs. Dhakane, followed by the school anthem, filling the air with a sense of pride and unity. The Jr. KG and Sr. KG students impressed the audience with their delightful drills, showcasing their enthusiasm and coordination. The sports torch was then lit, and Sr. KG students took the sports oath, pledging fair play and sportsmanship.

Mrs Dhakane delivered an inspiring address, emphasizing the role of sports in child development. She encouraged parents to actively support their children's engagement in sports for a healthier future. Her message, “Be Ready and Steady when participating in any event,” resonated with the young participants, before she officially declared the event open.

The excitement continued with various track events, where the young athletes demonstrated passion and determination. The enthusiastic cheers from the audience created an electrifying atmosphere, while the prize distribution ceremony at the end rewarded the winners with medals and certificates.

The day ended on a high note with the ceremonial extinguishing of the sports flame, followed by a rendition of the National Anthem, bringing a dignified close to a day filled with energy, teamwork, and joy.
