BIS #6410 SYM-GuRaM Monsoon Trek at Narukot: An Experience of a Lifetime

by Father Ajay Shelke for BISMumbai

On 07 August 2021, the youth of the SYM-GuRaM region went on a monsoon trek from Narukot to the Zand Hanuman Temple situated in the Jambughoda wildlife sanctuary. Organized by the Salesians at Don Bosco Narukot, the 15 Salesian-SYM animators of the region managed to gather 56 young people, for this long-awaited outing.

On arrival at Narukot, the youth were treated to a hearty breakfast after which all the trekkers were briefed about the trek, divided into teams and had the opportunity to introduce themselves to each other. The 8 km long trekking trail which passed through places of exquisite natural beauty took the youth approximately 3 hrs to complete. What made the trekking more delightful and memorable was the pristine beauty of the natural forest, a variety of flora and fauna coupled with stunning views.

On reaching the destination, the youth were suitably rewarded with delicious and mouth watering food. A game of ‘housie’ was then animated for the youngster after which the youngster had some time to relax during which they got to know each other better. After spending a couple of hours there, the trekkers started their journey back.

Once back at Narukot the youth thanked the Salesians at Don Bosco Narukot for organising this trek, which was a much needed break after being locked up at home, due to the pandemic. It was indeed a fantastic experience (the nature, solitude and freedom) for the youth of the GuRaM region.
