BIS #6998 PPC Oath Ceremony at DB Kawant

By Cl. Alan Manuel for BISMumbai

Sahayak Mata Parish, Kawant, witnessed the oath-taking ceremony of the newly formed Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) on 30 July 2023. The event was presided over by Fr. Mayank Parmar, the Parish Priest.

Though the parish consists of only 15 families, 13 men and women stepped forward to be part of the PPC. The first orientation meeting was organized on 22 July 2023, where Fr Parmar delivered a detailed presentation on the history, vision, mission, objectives, and lines of action for the council. Ms Madhumalti Rana expressed her gratitude, stating that the thorough information-sharing had made her council participation more fervent, as she now understood the council's role better.

To solemnize their commitment to the council and its mission, it was decided to hold an oath-taking ceremony during the Mass on 30 July. As scheduled, all the faithful gathered for the Mass, where the PPC members, accompanied by the priests, formed a procession. Fr Parmar was the principal celebrant, and he emphasized the importance of the PPC and the mind of the synodal church, inspired by Pope Francis, during the homily.

After the homily, each PPC member held lit candles in their hands and recited the profession of faith, followed by the oath-taking ceremony. Fr Parmar blessed each PPC member individually, signifying their dedication and commitment to their roles. The lighted candles were then placed on the altar, symbolizing their commitment to let their light shine in the parish community.

This simple yet meaningful ceremony left a profound impact not only on the faithful but also on the PPC members, who pledged to work with dedication and enthusiasm for the parish's betterment. Mr Ravji Rathwa, one of the first catechists, shared his experience, stating that he felt the Holy Spirit inspiring him to work with greater enthusiasm as he made his promise.

Coincidentally, the day also marked the birthday of Fr Parmar, and all the PPC members gathered around him to appreciate his various new initiatives for the parish..
