by Father Rolvin D'mello for BISMumbai

On 07 March 2020, the Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS) inaugurated a new computer lab fully equipped for imparting basic as well as advanced computer courses to the youth from the slums of Mumbai. This lab is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Colli Briantei-Milan, Italy and is dedicated to the memory of FMA nun, Sister Camilla Tagliabue.

Father Rolvin D’Mello (Executive Director – DBDS) placed on record his sincere thanks to the Association of Auxilium India and the Rotary Club of Colli Briantei for this precious gift to the slum youth of Mumbai. The primary objective in setting up this lab is to impart advanced computer education to the slum youth, especially courses like Tally, DTP, webdesign, graphicsdesign, etc., that will help these youth to find jobs and earn a decent livelihood.

Speaking on the occasion Father Ashely Miranda-MumbaiSalesians Vice-Provincial, exhorted all the students to learn and make good use of the free facility at their disposal. He also wished all the youth a bright future. Jayesh Chandan welcomed all the dignitaries, while Pankaj Vora and Kirit Ruparel (both from the Rotary Club of Mumbai) expressed their joy at this noble venture. They also extended their support to DBDS for any future projects. Province Procurator Father Edwin D’Souza together with Vora cut the ribbon and inaugurated the computer lab.

They programme ended with an inspirational and meaningful video message from Francesco, Erio and Daniella (Members of Association Auxilium India – Milan, Italy), following which sumptuous snacks were served to all.
