by Clerics Christopher Nadar & Rohan D'Souza for BISMumbai

The community of Don Bosco Nerul hosted an Online Mass for the Catholics of the school on the occasion of the Solemnity of the Assumption of Our Lady and the 74th Independence Day of India. The flag-hoisting ceremony was organised after the Eucharistic celebration, along with a few support staff. The Holy Mass was presided over by Father Adolph Furtado who in his homily spoke about youth building nations and also shared examples of 04 prominent young leaders who are inspiring the world, namely, Malala Yousafzai, Greta Thunberg, Ryan Hickman and Ryan Hreljac.

Emphasizing the need for ecological conversion, Father Furtado also asked the students to "take up initiatives that may be bothering you, and come together to commit and make changes in society as a force of young people, thereby building a better you, better country and a better world." After the flag hoisting, the school also conducted an online Independence Day programme wherein children from the comfort of their homes could enjoy and participate in the celebrations of the Independence Day and not miss out on the vibe of the occasion.

The school continues to conduct online classes with dedicated staff members using innovative methods to make the learning process interesting for the students. The school has also successfully conducted online exams for the senior students and plans to conduct periodic online assessments till the situation returns back to normal and schools reopen. The Salesian Community also continues to celebrate an online 1st Friday Mass every month for the Catholic students and staff members of the school. With numerous opportunities available in the online forum, the school is moving ahead to equip itself with expertise in providing the best learning experience for the students in all subjects and more so in value education, life skills and religion classes.
