"Parents’ love is the foundation of a child’s happiness."
With hearts full of gratitude, the students and staff of St. Dominic Savio High School, Andheri, came together to honour the bond of unconditional love through a series of Parents’ Day celebrations that spanned across the week.
The celebrations began with a heartwarming Card-Making Competition in the Primary Section on July 23. Students from Std 1 to 4 poured creativity and affection into their handmade cards, expressing love and appreciation for their parents. These thoughtful creations were later presented to parents on July 26, transforming simple paper into cherished keepsakes.
On Saturday, July 26, the Pre-primary and Nursery Sections hosted a vibrant Parents’ Day celebration in the school premises. The sections were beautifully adorned with balloons and floral décor by the teachers, enhancing the festive spirit. The school was abuzz with music, colour, and joyful energy.
The programme opened with a prayer and the hymn “I Love You Lord,” sung by Sr. KG and Nursery students and Pre-primary Supervisor Ms Dillian Veyra, thanking God for the blessing of loving parents. Guided by the music teacher, the children performed to lively tunes like “Hai Na Bolo Bolo” and “My Mummy, My Daddy I Love You.” Vice Principal, Fr Jeswin Mastan, graced the event and, in his address, expressed deep appreciation to the parents for their trust and partnership in nurturing young minds. Interactive one-minute games like Tone Tango, Guess the Tune, Passing the Crown, and crafting wall hangings with parents added cheer, engaging both children and their parents. A touching moment followed as children gifted lovingly handmade Parents’ Day cards and shared warm hugs.
The day concluded with the distribution of prizes for the “Best Out of Waste Family Photo Frame” competition held earlier, bringing smiles and even a few nostalgic tears. Many parents, like Mrs Akshaya Nair, were visibly moved. “It was pure nostalgia,” she shared, “reminding me of my own school days and precious moments with my parents.”
Together, through art, music, prayer, and play, the Savion family celebrated the true meaning of Parents’ Day: love, gratitude, and togetherness.
