Rotary Club of Smart City Navi Mumbai – Belapur and Wading Through Life’s Funtoosh (Don Bosco Prafulta Psychological Services, Nerul) hosted a heartwarming and exclusive screening of the latest film Sitaare Zameen Par on Saturday, 28th June 2025. Held at Cinepolis Theatre, Nexus Seawoods Mall, the event was specially organized for children with special needs and their families.
The film, Sitaare Zameen Par, centers around a group of neurodivergent teens and their reluctant basketball coach, Gulshan Arora. Initially assigned to coach them as punishment for a DUI offense, Arora’s dismissive attitude gradually transforms as he begins to see the unique strengths, resilience, and joy his team embodies. The story beautifully highlights themes of acceptance, personal growth, and the triumph of the human spirit.
Thanks to the generous sponsorship by the Rotary Club of Smart City Navi Mumbai, children enjoyed the screening free of charge—complete with popcorn for all attendees. A total of 107 people, including neurodivergent children and their parents, participated in this joyful outing.
Behind the scenes, the event was meticulously coordinated by several dedicated individuals. Rotarians Mr Milan Chandak (President) and Ms Nazia Momin, along with fellow club members, attended the screening and helped ensure its smooth execution. Key organizers included Fr Barnabe Dsouza (Rector, Don Bosco Nerul), Ms Wenonah Castellino (Advisor, Don Bosco Academy Nerul and Founder – Wading Through Life - Funtoosh), and Ms Michelle Pereira (Coordinator-WTL), who coordinated directly with families to ensure maximum participation.
The event was more than just a movie—it was a celebration of inclusion. For many families, it became a cherished moment of bonding and shared joy. Wading Through Life has long championed the cause of neurodivergent children and teens, providing them with platforms to engage in sports, culture, and community life. Events like these create not only memorable experiences but also supportive networks among parents and children.
The response from families was overwhelmingly positive. One parent expressed, “This thoughtful initiative provided an inclusive and joyful experience for our children, and offered a meaningful opportunity for families to come together in a supportive environment.” Another shared, “We deeply appreciate your commitment to inclusion and your efforts in making this event memorable for all.”
Their heartfelt gratitude reflects the importance of creating inclusive spaces where every
child is celebrated and empowered. Powerful message ‘Sabka apna apna normal hai, Sitaare humare phenomenal hai.’
