BIS #5844 MUMBAI SALFAM DAY AT WADALA

The Salesian Family of the MumbaiSalesians' gathered to celebrate ‘Family Day’ on Sunday 19 January 2020 at St.Joseph's School Hall, Wadala. Comprising of SDBs, FMA, Salesian Cooperators, ADMA and Past Pupils, 130 participated in an instructive and fun-filled event, hosted by the Wadala (East & West) Cooperators' Units.

The Eucharist at 09.00am was celebrated by MumbaiSalesian Provincial Father Savio Silveira, assisted by the SalFam Provincial Delegate Father Diego Nunes, Father Brian Moras, Father Joe Braganza, and Father Shekhar Mariadas. Delivering a thought-provoking homily, Father Silveira said, "we should as Salesian family members be God-oriented rather than activity-oriented. Although the Salesian family had achieved plenty with regard to hosting mega events, which were good, it is required that we follow Don Bosco's spirituality - being united, friendly and caring toward one another." He also stressed the importance of follow-up of the youth and accompanying them through life.

Mass was followed by a quick Breakfast leading onto the 'business session' with the day's comperes Dolly and Ketan Gala. Father Nunes welcomed the various delegates and family members from dofferent units, especially those from afar- Nasik, Lonavla, Gujarat and Ahmednagar. Felicitations and mementos prepared by Selma Serrao then happend, with Ketan Gala felicotated separately for his re-election as the National Past Pupils' President.

Father Moras then presented the Strenna2020 "Good Christians and Upright Citizens," followed by activities presentation of the ADMA, Past Pupils and Cooperators. The Wadala West Unit presented a prayer dance while the ADMA pit up 'The Hungry Man" an entertaining skit. A wonderful game of Housie lifted the mood of the day with Jacinta D'Souza proposing the vote of thanks and Sister Catherine blessing the lunch spread . After that it was farewell and goodbyes till the next Family Day
