On July 19, 2025, Don Bosco Chhotaudepur joyfully inaugurated the Golden Jubilee celebrations, marking fifty years of its impactful presence and dedicated service. The event commenced with a traditional cultural ritual, during which heartfelt homage was paid to the pioneering diocesans and Salesian missionaries Frs. Oscar, Anthony, Manuel, Maschio, Moja, Bayron, whose vision, sacrifice, and missionary zeal laid the cornerstone for what Don Bosco Chhotaudepur is today.
Following the cultural opening, a solemn thanksgiving Eucharist was presided over by Fr Ashley Miranda, the Provincial-elect of the Bombay Province. The Mass was concelebrated by Fr Gregory, the Provincial Economer, along with all the Salesians from the Gujarat region, representing their respective communities. In his homily, Fr Miranda reflected on the selfless missionary spirit of the founding Salesians. He reminded the congregation that just as they became living witnesses of God’s love, we too are called to continue their legacy spreading compassion, hope, and God’s love to all those we serve. The Eucharistic celebration was meaningfully animated by the parishioners and boarders, adding a spiritual and communal depth to the occasion. After the Mass, a brief but heartfelt felicitation ceremony was held to honour all the Salesians and distinguished guests present. A commemorative video was screened, beautifully capturing the journey and contributions of the early missionaries who shaped the institution’s legacy over the past five decades.
Fr George Carlos, the Rector of Don Bosco Chhotaudepur, expressed his profound gratitude in the concluding address. He sincerely thanked the provincial team, the Salesian communities, parishioners, and all those who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to bring the celebration to life. He emphasized that this milestone was not just a celebration of the past, but a call to renew the mission with renewed zeal and commitment. The spirit of gratitude, unity, and renewed commitment pervaded the entire gathering, making it a truly memorable beginning to the Jubilee year.
The inaugural program concluded with a sumptuous meal, shared in a spirit of joy, fraternity, and gratitude. The gathering marked not only a historical milestone but also a reaffirmation of Don Bosco Chhotaudepur’s mission to serve, educate, and uplift the lives of the young and the marginalized in the years to come. As Don Bosco Chhotaudepur embarks on its next chapter, the Golden Jubilee stands as a testament to God’s providence, the tireless dedication of the Salesians, and the enduring spirit of the community they serve.
