Chinchwad, June 6, 2025 — Don Bosco Industrial Training Institute, Chinchwad, celebrated Shivrajyabhishek Sohala, honouring the historic coronation of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the embodiment of leadership, courage, and public service. The event was held in line with the Maharashtra Government’s directive to instill values of leadership and social responsibility among students.
The program commenced with a warm welcome by Fr. Anton D’Souza and Mr. Nilesh Chandgude, followed by the screening of a special video message from the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, encouraging students to imbibe the values of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
The chief guest, Mr. Vijay Naik, Engineer at ONGC, addressed the gathering on the topic of leadership and citizenship. He urged students to respect women, adopt the virtues of Shivaji Maharaj, and become responsible citizens. “Be skilled here for a brighter future,” he advised, underscoring the importance of technical education and character building.
Mr. Chetak Wagh, B.E. Mechanical Engineering , MBA (HRM), keynote speaker, delved into the leadership qualities of Shivaji Maharaj and connected them to contemporary issues such as environmental degradation. Speaking on the occasion of World Environment Day, he highlighted the relevance of nurturing nature and taking responsibility for the planet.
He emphasized, “Vasundhara is our home. Just as we care for our house, we must protect the Earth.” Students were encouraged to celebrate personal occasions by planting saplings, reduce plastic use, and promote conservation of rivers, forests, animals, and birds.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Poorva Sabne who expressed gratitude to the Government of Maharashtra for its continued support in promoting value-based education.
The celebration served as a reminder of the legacy of Shivaji Maharaj and the urgent call for environmental consciousness among the youth.
