BIS #6773 Extraordinary Visitation at DB Borivli

By Mrs Neelam Rodrigues for BISMumbai

22 August 2022 was a day of joy and blessings as the General Councillor for the South Asia Region, Fr Biju Michael, visited Don Bosco, Borivli, and spent the day with the staff and the students. In his honour, the students put up a lovely programme.

The event began with the guard of honour leading the dignitaries to the school hall on the beats of dhols. It was a beautiful sight to see the girls of the middle school dressed up in set sarees, standing along the aisle, showering petals of roses on the guests and the dignitaries, as they entered the venue. The ceremonial lighting of the lamp was followed by the Rector, Fr Solomon Rapol, gifting a lit candle to Fr Biju Michael as a symbol of the legacy of Don Bosco.

The Rector then officially welcomed and introduced Fr Biju Michael to the staff and the students. The welcome song and dance brought out the spirit of the school and the students. The cultural dance by the girls of the secondary and the song and dance performance by the junior college enthralled all.

The students were all rapt with attention as Fr Biju Michael spoke to them. Having shared the greetings of the Rector Major, he expressed his feelings about the school, and urged the students to absorb all the positive qualities that the world has to offer and soar high up in the sky of success, while being down to earth.

Following the school program, Fr Biju Michael gave a short conference to the teachers of the school and the college where he brought the vision of Don Bosco to the forefront. He told the teachers to be prompt in their vocation, unfolding the true potential of every child. And very importantly, he spoke of giving wings to the dreams of the poor and the marginalised children, that they may be able to fly high and make their dreams come true.

The visit of Fr Biju Michael invoked a moment of grace upon Don Bosco, Borivli, as he left the community rejuvenated and encouraged.
