BIS #7304 Prayas Kendra Hosts Festive Celebration
By Martin Fernandes for BIS Mumbai
The spirit of the festivities of Ganesh Chaturthi was brought to life on 13th September at Prayas Kendra, Don Bosco, Borivali, as 62 enthusiastic children from neighboring slum areas gathered to participate in a fun-filled and joyful celebration. Organized by the Don Bosco initiative Prayas Kendra, which focuses on the upliftment of underprivileged children through education and care, this event aimed to spread happiness and foster a sense of community among the young participants.
The event kicked off with a warm welcome by the Director, Fr. Diego Nunes, who shared the mission of Prayas Kendra and encouraged the children to take part in the evening study classes, the English Classes and the Computer Classes offered by the center. The celebration was filled with excitement as the children participated in various games and activities organized by Martin Fernandes, all aimed at engaging and entertaining them.
Fr. Akhil and Fr. Evangelo also conducted several games, further enriching the children’s experience and enthusiasm. Mrs. Natal Fernandes & Mrs. Sophilia Ben were constantly managing the Children with Allan Rodrigues and Stephen Alphonso to make a smooth flow of the Program.
Before the snack break, the children enjoyed an energetic DJ and dance session, where they danced and delighted in the festive beats, adding an extra layer of joy to the celebration. After the DJ session, the children were treated to snacks and refreshments and they dispersed with stationery as a memento.
This celebration, more than just an event, was an opportunity for the children to come together, make new friends, and experience the joy of community. As always, Prayas Kendra continues to be a beacon of hope, empowering children through education and enriching their lives through such heartwarming events.
