The SYM (Salesian Youth Movement) Youth Seminar held at Amrutdhara Don Bosco Kapadvanj from November 3rd to 5th, 2024, under the theme “Journeying Towards Holiness,” provided an enriching space for youth to deepen their understanding of faith, confront modern challenges, and connect with peers in their faith journey. The event, attended by enthusiastic youth from across Gujarat, aimed to guide participants in incorporating spirituality into everyday life through dynamic sessions, prayerful reflection, and engaging activities.

The seminar commenced on Sunday, November 3rd, with registration as participants eagerly gathered to begin the weekend of reflection and fellowship. Aryan Gohel SYM led the inaugural ceremony, followed by a heartfelt wlcome and an inaugural address by Fr. Ashwin Macwan, the Director of AMRUTDHARA. Fr. Ashwin set the tone by emphasizing the theme of holiness and encouraging youth to discover the sanctity in everyday moments.

The first session, “Understanding Holiness in Everyday Life,” led by Francis Dyrasa, a well known motivational speaker, delved into practical ways to live a faith-driven life. It was an insightful introduction, laying the foundation for the weekend. The afternoon session, “Handling Peer Pressure with Faith,” conducted by Rajesh Christian, addressed the common struggles youth face and offered guidance on maintaining integrity and faith amidst societal pressures.

Evening activities included a session on “Dealing with Disappointments due to Addiction,” facilitated by Shailesh Christi, where he discussed resilience and offered a hopeful message about overcoming setbacks. Michael Paul continued with a session titled “Serving Others as a Path to Holiness,” urging youth to see service as essential to their journey of holiness and purpose.

The highlight of the day was the Eucharist celebrated by Fr. Isaac, SDB, with a homily on “Overcoming Temptations,” which resonated with youth as a reminder of spiritual resilience. Afternoon sessions included “Building Holy Relationships,” a discussion led by Shailesh Christi, focusing on nurturing relationships rooted in respect and compassion. An Adoration and Confession session followed, facilitated by Prakash and Vandna Macwan, providing youth with time for personal reflection, repentance, and renewal.

The day closed with a Musical Night, creating a lively atmosphere filled with joy and camaraderie, highlighting how holiness can be expressed through joy and fellowship.

The final day, November 5th, opened with a meditation by Fr. Ashwin Macwan. Mr. Shailesh and Mrs. Priti Rathod led a session on “Living Your Faith in School, College, and Work,” sharing practical insights for embodying faith within academic and professional environments. This was followed by “Way Forward of the Seminar,” a session by Shailesh Christie and Fr. Ashwin Macwan, guiding youth on maintaining their spiritual momentum post-seminar.

The concluding Eucharist, celebrated by Bishop Ratnaswamy, centred on “Building a Supportive Community,” encouraging participants to carry forward the values of kindness and unity. A heartfelt short films presentation and felicitation recognized the efforts of young directors and volunteers who took part in DBGYFF.
