By Mr Jesuraja Joseph for BISMumbai
Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, Nerul, recently held two noteworthy events that celebrated the achievements of its students and fostered community engagement. The school’s commitment to nurturing excellence was evident as it organised a Felicitation Ceremony on 23 June 2023, and an Annual General Meeting (AGM) on, 24 June 2023.
The felicitation ceremony aimed to honour the meritorious students from Classes X and XII (Batch 2022-23) and foster a stronger connection with the school’s alumni. The Principal, Mrs Sangita Bhattacharya, extended her warm congratulations to the students for their remarkable achievements. Trophies and certificates were then presented to the first three rank holders of Classes X and XII, as well as to those students who had achieved a perfect score of 100 in various subjects. Fr Akhil Abraham in his inspiring speech, said, “The hard work always pays off and steers towards excellence”.
Cl. Joseph Thomas, who is a past pupil of the institution, took the opportunity to share exciting information about upcoming activities centred around alumni and past pupil registration. This initiative aims to establish and strengthen the bond between the school and its former students, fostering a sense of belonging and community.
The Annual General Meeting for the year 2023-24 took place on 24 June. The meeting was divided into multiple sessions, organised section-wise from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., to ensure focused discussions and interactive exchanges. Each session began with a prayer song, followed by the heads of each section welcoming the dignitaries and introducing the school management and PTA members.
Fr Barnabe D’Souza, the Rector, addressed the gathering, emphasising the importance of nurturing children’s talents and abilities within the holistic growth process at Don Bosco. He extended a warm invitation to parents, encouraging them to utilise the campus facilities, particularly the grounds. The Principal outlined the school's commitment to academic excellence and shared the strategies being implemented to achieve this goal.
The significance of time management and discipline, announcing new initiatives such as longer breaks, improved washroom facilities, designated ‘no bag’ days, half-days on the last day of each month, and the upcoming Elysian Fest, was highlighted during the meeting. After a fruitful discussion, the parents were given the opportunity to engage in one-on-one interactions with their child’s class teacher in their respective classrooms.
These events exemplified the institution’s dedication to fostering academic excellence and celebrating the achievements of its students. By recognising and encouraging their accomplishments, the school community created an environment that inspires continued growth and success.
