Don Bosco School marked the start of the academic year 2025–2026 with an Inaugural Prayer Service held in the Parish Hall. Centred on the theme “Hope Ignites,” the ceremony set a reflective and positive tone for the school community as students and staff returned to campus.

The program began with a prayer song and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by members of the school management, symbolising a fresh start and the light of knowledge. Fr Royal, Rector, addressed the gathering, encouraging students to begin the year with courage, kindness, and confidence. He spoke about the importance of hope, not only as a personal strength but as something that brings people together and builds resilience in times of uncertainty.

A symbolic offering ceremony followed: a candle representing wisdom, a sapling for growth, and stationery items for learning. Teachers led scripture readings from various religious traditions, reinforcing the values of unity and mutual respect. Students then offered prayers for strength, clarity, and guidance for the year ahead.

A skit performed by the students further brought the theme to life. Simple but powerful, it reminded the audience that hope, even in small doses, can spark meaningful change. The performance encouraged all present to carry a sense of purpose and possibility into their daily lives.

In his concluding address, Fr Rixson Nigrel, Principal, welcomed students and staff to the new academic year. He emphasised the importance of remaining grounded in faith, being open to learning, and supporting one another. He expressed his hope that the year ahead would be filled with opportunities for growth, collaboration, and success.

Earlier that day, Fr. Rixson celebrated the Eucharist in the school chapel. Offered in thanksgiving and to seek the Spirit’s guidance, the Mass provided a moment of quiet reflection and renewal. It was particularly meaningful for students beginning a new chapter of learning and development.

Together, the prayer service and Eucharistic celebration offered a grounded and hopeful start to the school year, reminding the Don Bosco community that even a single spark of hope can light the way forward.
