BIS #6654 Yoga for Health and Humanity

International Yoga Day was celebrated at Don Bosco School, Nashik, on 21 June 2022. Mr Santosh Lahane and Mr Satish Kamble, the Physical Training teachers, had geared up to celebrate the day right from the commencement of the academic year. They had made all the students aware that Yoga is the journey of the self, to the self, through the self, and not just a physical exercise. It was also explained to the students that with the regular practice of yoga, one can develop immunity and flexibility as well.
The programme began with the school anthem followed by the prayer. After a brief introduction was given on the importance of Yoga for health and vitality, the volunteers helped the students do warm up exercises which activates muscles and lower the risk of injury. Then they guided all the students of middle school and secondary section to do various Yoga Asanas like the Tadasana, Sukhasana, Vrikshasana, Paschimottanasana, Shashankasana, Virabhadrasana and a few others.
Fr Cedrick addressed the students at the end of the session. He affirmed that Yoga is India’s gift to humanity and it is a holistic approach to health and well-being, as it balances mind, body and soul. He added that Yoga is the gateway to happiness that the body needs in daily life, and urged the students to make it a part of their daily routine.
