BIS #6409 'Marian Week' begins at Snehalaya-Vishwamitri

by Cleric Nathaneal George with Fr Bosco Carvalho for BISMUmbai

Although COVID-19 has rendered many Salesian boardings empty and reduced interactions to online sessions, the house of Don Bosco Snehalaya at Vishwamitri, began its ‘Marian Week,’ in honour of our Blessed Mother on 08 August 2021. This event being held for the first time, had the boys guessing, which led to a general rise in anticipation and excitement.

Clerics Nathaneal George, Julian Meda and Sanjay Ninama led the confreres and boys in a beautiful prayer service at 7 pm, with the theme ‘Meri Maa,’ with an emphasis not only on our Lady, but also on the motif of motherhood - mothers, mother nature and our motherland. The important role played by these ‘mothers’ was the main focus during the inauguration.

The Marian Week was declared open by Rector-Father George Miranda, with the unveiling of the grotto, and presentation of the week’s events. Father Miranda, much like Don Bosco, reminded the boys, like Don Bosco, sasying, "each one of you is a blessing and brought to Snehalaya by our Lady." The inaugural programme ended with the Marian Anthem.
