The Don Bosco Chinchwad (DBVPK) team conducted an impactful orientation session at Thomas Baptista College, Papdy, Vasai, addressing over 75 staff members on the importance of skill development and youth empowerment.
The session commenced with a warm welcome by Fr John Fargose, Chancellor of the Vasai Diocese and Manager of the college. He emphasized the significance of reaching out to disadvantaged youth and highlighted the vital role that skill training can play in transforming lives. Introducing the DBVPK team, Fr Fargose lauded the mission of Don Bosco Chinchwad in the upliftment of young people, especially those on the margins of society.
Fr Anton D’Souza, Director of Don Bosco Chinchwad, presented an overview of the Skill Training ecosystem developed by Don Bosco in collaboration with industries. He spoke about the holistic approach of the Don Bosco pedagogy, which ensures that students are accompanied and supported throughout their journey, preparing them to be job-ready and socially responsible.
Mr Gaurav Patole engaged the audience with an insightful presentation on the difference between a Fixed Mindset and a Growth Mindset, urging educators to embrace change and innovation, especially in the age of Artificial Intelligence. He also explained the Preventive System of Don Bosco, quoting the teachings of Don Bosco himself, as well as a message from Fr Savio Silveira during the inauguration of the DB ACE Computer Lab.
Ms Simran Bagul introduced the staff to the Don Bosco Avsar Chinchwad initiative and guided them through the DBI App, which facilitates student engagement and placement. She outlined the national vision and mission of the Don Bosco Network, sharing future plans and opportunities for collaboration.
The session concluded with a vibrant interactive segment, where staff members enthusiastically engaged with the speakers. In their concluding remarks, Fr. Anton D’Souza, Fr. John Fargose, and Fr. Kiran Lopes jointly urged the staff to become ambassadors for the underprivileged youth, encouraging them to identify, guide, and support students towards skill training and digital literacy. They emphasized that such efforts would not only shape skilled professionals but also responsible citizens and compassionate human beings.
